Doctrinal Statement
Pastor Terry Murphey
I was born and raised in church, but I did not receive salvation until I was 23 years of age, during which time I was exposed to numerous churches. I attained a Christian education at Stone Mountain Christian School. Through the years I have studied the Bible with great interest and have developed a strong Biblical belief system. I believe the Bible is God’s infallible Word of God. The Bible states no untruth, and has all of life’s answers within its two covers, if we search them out. The Bible was given to us to have comfort, to guide us, and to lead us to Heaven. I believe a Pastor’s job is not to control the Church, but, be a servant to the church. His number one primary function should be to feed the church congregation. Our role as the children of God should be to reach out to a lost and dying world. We are not to judge people, but try to be a help to others. Here is a list of my basic Doctrinal beliefs,
1. I believe in the Holy Scripture accepting fully the writings of the Old and New Testaments as the Word of God, verbally inspired in all parts our infallible and authoritative rule of faith and practice.
2. I believe there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
3. I believe in the Deity of Christ: His virgin birth, His shed blood for atonement: His bodily resurrection: His ascension into Heaven there to be our Intercessor.
4. I believe that the Holy Spirit convicts of Sin, make believers Children of God through the new birth, assuring them of Heaven and by His indwelling enables Christians to live a godly life.
5. I believe that all men are by nature and choice sinful and lost and have within themselves no possible means of salvation
6. I believe in salvation by grace through faith; that salvation is the free gift of God, not by any virtue or works of man. I believe in eternal security, that when someone truly gives himself to Christ and the blood is applied to his life that he is safe in the hands of God. I do not feel this gives us a license to sin, but we are to strive to live a life that is Holy and acceptable unto God.
7. I believe in the existence of Satan, the deceiver and God in this present world: that he was defeated and judged at the cross, and therefore his final doom is certain.
8.I believe in the second coming of Christ: that his return from Heaven will be personal, visible, and glorious, the time being unraveled, but always imminent; that when He will first by resurrection of the dead and translation of the living removed from the earth His glorious and literal kingdom over all the nations for a thousand years.
9. I Believe that the spirits of the saved at death go immediately to be with Christ in Heaven: that at His second coming their works will be judged and rewards determined: that the spirits of the unsaved at death descend immediately into Hades until the final day of judgment, at which time their bodies shall be raised from the grave, judge, and cast into the lake of fire, the place of final and everlasting punishment.
10. I believe in the priesthood of all believers, that Christ is our great high priest and through Him every
Born again has direct access into God’s presence without the need of a human priest; that the believer
Has the right and the responsibility to personally study and interpret the Scriptures guided by the Holy
Spirit.
11. I believe that the New Testament Church is an organized body of Born Again baptized believers
Practicing scriptural ordinances and actively engaged in fulfilling the Great Commission.
12. I believe the two scriptural ordinances given to a local Church or baptism by immersion of believers
Only, and the Lords Supper to be partaken of by obedient Christians.
